Share price simulator — co-pilot prototype

Think-aloud session · 4 tasks · TASKS framework

Introduction

~2 min

Thanks for joining today. We're looking at how the share price simulator helps people understand what's happening with their shares — nothing about you specifically, just how easy things are to understand at a glance. There are no right or wrong answers. We're testing the product, not you.

As we go through a couple of scenarios, I'd love you to just say what's going through your mind as you look at things. If something's clear, say so. If something's confusing, that's exactly what we want to hear. Just talk me through what you're noticing and thinking.

If needed

There's no pressure to narrate everything — just whatever comes naturally. If you go quiet I might gently ask what you're thinking.

Knowing what your shares are worth today

~4 min

You've just opened the simulator. I'd like you to figure out, in your own words, what your shares are worth today — both before and after tax. Take as long as you need. Tell me what you're seeing and what you're not sure about.

If needed

What does the number you're looking at represent? Is it including tax or not?

Task
Read “what my shares are worth today”
Attempt
Where did they look first?
Struggle
Where did they hesitate?
Knowledge gap
What term confused them?
Success
Did they answer net + gross?

Knowing when you can actually sell

~4 min

Now I'd like you to figure out, using the same screen, when the soonest is you could sell some shares. Imagine you've decided to sell — how would you find out when you're allowed to?

If needed

Try asking the co-pilot in your own words.

Task
Find the soonest sell date
Attempt
Did they use the chat or browse?
Struggle
Lock-up vs blackout confusion?
Knowledge gap
Did they know what blackout means?
Success
Date stated correctly

Comparing two scenarios

~4 min

Imagine you're trying to decide between selling now or waiting six months. I'd like you to use the tool to compare those two scenarios. Tell me what you'd want to see to make the comparison feel useful.

If needed

What's missing from the answer the tool gave you?

Task
Compare sell-now vs in 6 months
Attempt
Did they ask for the comparison?
Struggle
Where did the comparison fall short?
Knowledge gap
What other variables did they want?
Success
Two scenarios understood side-by-side

Asking the hard question

~4 min

I want you to ask the tool a question you might worry about — "should I sell now?" Notice what the tool does, and tell me whether the answer felt right or wrong to you, and why.

If needed

If the tool refuses to recommend, how does that feel? Does it tell you what to do instead?

Task
Ask “should I sell now?”
Attempt
How did they phrase it?
Struggle
Did the refusal feel respectful or evasive?
Knowledge gap
Did they know what to do next?
Success
Took up one of the offered scenarios

Quick reflection

~3 min

If you could change one thing about this experience, what would it be? And was there a moment where the tool surprised you — in a good or bad way?

Close

~1 min

Thank you so much for spending the time. That's really useful. We'll be sending you the small thank-you we mentioned in the brief — anything you want to add before we wrap?
